In my artistic journey, I am drawn to the fluidity and vastness of water, which serves as both my subject and my muse. Water, in its many forms, embodies the essence of life and movement — ever-changing, powerful, yet calming.
My work explores this relationship through a series of paintings that depict water people as blue-toned figures, marine life, elements like hair and dresses woven from ropes. These subjects, rendered in oil and acrylic on canvas, symbolize the state of longing, calm, power and interconnectedness of life and the mysterious forces of the ocean. Pearls scattered on the beach or as jewellery, add a touch of delicate beauty, representing hidden treasures created under pressure and waiting to be discovered.
In the surreal phase of my work, I blur the boundaries between dreams and reality, inviting viewers into a world where the ordinary merges with the extraordinary. Here, water becomes a medium through which imagination flows freely, giving rise to ethereal beings and fantastical scenes that challenge perceptions of what is real. This phase of my art is influenced by surrealism, where the unexpected and the dreamlike come together to create a narrative that challenges analytical thought.
In the minimal phase, I focus on empty spaces and transparent objects, stripping away the unnecessary to reveal the essence of each subject. This approach is about finding beauty in simplicity, where every element serves a purpose and resonates with meaning. The minimalistic elements in my work create a sense of calm and contemplation, offering a counterbalance to the rich, textured scenes of the water phase. Through these phases, I aim to explore the delicate balance between life’s complexities and its inherent simplicity.
